Update on the EWUA Regular Board Meeting for July 16, 2024.
The Dominant Board Faction (DBF) rejected the motion to have the Association attorney participate in the naming of a neutral election inspector to manage the recall process. This is the second time DBF has formally refused. Yet, those who are being recalled (DBF) and EWUA staff (who serve under their oversight) should not be the people counting the votes.
DBF voted to authorize the same proxy that was used in the 2023 election of directors for their own use. The RecallWater Proxy includes all of the same elements; yet, the DBF refuses to count your vote if it is not submitted using the DBF form.
The primary difference between the DBF form and the one used by RecallWater is that the RecallWater form allows the Member to retain their right to vote if they attend the Member meeting in person. According to General Manager, Dan Burke, the DBF form conveys the Member’s right to the Board and the Board controls the vote, even if the Member attends the meeting in person. With the DBF proxy, the Member forfeits their vote and the DBF controls the vote even if the Member is present.
